Position Summary:

The Design & Manufacturing Engineer will support the Product Development Team, working with clients across all phases of clinical and commercial development, focusing on understanding, quantifying, and reducing cold-chain supply chain, logistics, and packaging risks. Responsibilities include supporting innovative packaging designs, working closely with quality to document designs, and collaborating with product management and marketing to meet market needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Follow user-centered design processes
2. Design temperature-controlled products, accessories, and packaging
3. Prototype and manufacture solutions for the temperature-controlled supply chain
4. Develop solutions using industry-standard software (e.g., ArtiosCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks)
5. Understand thermodynamics, especially at ultra-cold temperatures
6. Engage in product development, sustaining engineering, and manufacturing engineering
7. Create and manage engineering documentation and test plans
8. Manage project scope, budget, and timelines
9. Participate in validation, verification, and testing
10. Lead engineering efforts and collaborate across teams
11. Research materials and develop new designs
12. Document designs and produce engineering reports
13. Provide technical advice and analyze data
14. Support field engineering and client education
15. Design products to meet standards and ensure manufacturability
16. Sustain existing products with engineering support

Required Competencies:

• Problem-solving skills and ability to find creative solutions within budget and time constraints
• Proficiency in math, statistics, and data analysis tools
• Experience with polymers, glass, metals, and manufacturing processes
• Knowledge of packaging equipment and technologies
• Strong communication skills
• Attention to detail and analytical thinking
• Ability to manage multiple projects
• Self-motivated and proactive

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of international testing standards (ISTA, IATA, ISO, ASTM)
• Understanding of thermodynamics and packaging design, including electronics
• Experience with cold chain logistics and packaging testing
• Familiarity with GMP, cGMP, and FDA validation processes
• Data analytics and project management skills

Qualifications and Education:

• Bachelor’s or higher in Mechanical Engineering
• 5+ years in materials engineering, industrial design, or related fields
• Experience with CAD software (Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks)
• Knowledge of thermal simulations and manufacturing processes
• Experience with validation protocols and shipping qualification
• Understanding of industry standards and regulations
