Design Manager – Hyperscale Data Center (Arizona)

Job summary

ROSS Consultancy USA is seeking a Design Manager for a flagship hyperscale data centre project in Arizona. You will be the central link between the design team, trade partners and the field, driving coordination from concept through commissioning.

This heavily MEP-focused role prefers candidates with an electrical bias due to power distribution scope, and demands leadership of design consultants, RFI resolution, and rigorous design risk management on a complex campus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or similar.
• 3+ years in design management or project management on large-scale construction projects.
• Proven track record managing engineers, consultants and specialist trade contractors.
• Solid grasp of design coordination, construction sequencing and delivery models.
• Working knowledge of codes, permitting and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating all design communication, milestones and deliverables across preconstruction, engineering, construction, procurement and commissioning.
• Managing design consultants and design-assist trade partners, holding them to schedule, budget and quality.
• Driving RFI resolution, design clarifications, change control, drawing revisions and design risk escalation.
• Leading constructability and value engineering reviews, ensuring designs can be built on schedule and at cost.
• Supporting execution strategies including prefabricated MEP, skids, busway, medium voltage distribution and liquid cooling enablement.
• Validating design integration for high-density and AI/ML compute environments.
• Running BIM and clash coordination with the VDC team, and providing BIM support to the wider project team.
• Ensuring compliance with local codes, permitting requirements, utility conditions, energy standards and sustainability targets.
• Owning the design risk register, design logs, milestone reporting and lessons learned for future projects.
