The Design Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of design activities across multiple detention facility projects. This role manages design schedules, BIM standards, and document control while ensuring alignment between internal teams, Architects/Engineers of Record, and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements.
The Design Manager plays a critical role in maintaining design quality, consistency, and efficiency, while supporting project teams and driving collaboration across disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
Design Management & Scheduling
- Manage day-to-day design schedules for Architects and Engineers of Record
- Track design deliverables and ensure alignment with overall project schedules
- Coordinate with Document Control to manage receipt, storage, and distribution of design submissions
- Support submission processes for AHJ approvals and ensure completeness of required documentation
BIM & Design Standards Management
- Manage and maintain company BIM standards and intellectual property
- Oversee all current and archived BIM/Revit models
- Develop and maintain company Revit templates and standards
- Ensure consistency and accuracy across all design models and documentation
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Facilitate communication between design, engineering, manufacturing, and project teams
- Support Design Director in aligning workflows across departments
- Ensure timely and accurate flow of project information
Design Support & Visualization
- Assist in development of graphics and visual materials for client presentations
- Support business development efforts by illustrating ModCorr design solutions
- Help communicate technical concepts in a clear, client-friendly format
Quality Assurance / Quality Control
- Support implementation of QA/QC standards across all design deliverables
- Review drawings and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Identify and resolve design issues proactively
Technical Design Coordination
- Coordinate drawings, specifications, and submittals with project stakeholders
- Ensure design intent is maintained across all disciplines
- Assist in resolving technical design challenges using standardized components

Qualifications
Education
Experience
6 years of experience in:
Architecture
Construction
Manufacturing or modular design
Experience with commercial or institutional projects required
Detention or secure facility experience preferred
Technical Skills
Proficiency in:
Revit (required)
Bluebeam
Microsoft 365
Preferred experience with:
Procore
Newforma
Project scheduling software
Lumion or rendering tools
Adobe InDesign
