Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field.
• 8–10 years of experience in design management, engineering management, or project delivery.
• Experience from large-scale data center, industrial, mission-critical, construction, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of MEP systems and data center infrastructure.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and external consultants.
• Familiarity with BIM processes and digital design tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the complete design process from concept to construction support.

Position Summary

The Design Manager is responsible for leading, coordinating, and managing all design activities throughout the lifecycle of data center projects. The role ensures that design solutions meet client requirements, technical specifications, quality standards, budget constraints, and project schedules. The Design Manager acts as the primary interface between clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal project teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Design Management

• Lead and manage the complete design process from concept development through detailed design and construction support.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, including architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and telecommunications disciplines.
• Ensure all design deliverables are completed in accordance with project requirements, schedules, and quality standards.
• Monitor design progress and proactively identify and resolve technical issues.
• Manage design reviews, workshops, and stakeholder meetings.

Project Coordination

• Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Commissioning Managers, and client representatives.
• Ensure alignment between design intent, construction execution, and operational requirements.
• Support procurement activities by reviewing technical specifications and supplier submissions.
• Coordinate design changes and manage change control processes.

Technical Leadership

• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, building codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Review and approve design documentation, calculations, and technical reports.
• Drive innovative and cost-effective design solutions while maintaining reliability and scalability.
• Support value engineering exercises to optimize project outcomes.

Risk and Quality Management

• Identify and mitigate design-related risks.
• Ensure design quality and consistency across all project phases.
• Facilitate design assurance and technical audits.
• Ensure lessons learned are captured and implemented in future projects.

Stakeholder Management

• Act as the primary point of contact for all design-related matters.
• Foster strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
• Present design progress, technical solutions, and key decisions to project stakeholders and senior management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in design management, engineering management, or project delivery.
• Experience from large-scale data center, industrial, mission-critical, construction, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of MEP systems and data center infrastructure.
