Job summary

Haskell is seeking a Project Design Manager in Frisco, TX, to lead design project management for small to mid-size projects with an emphasis on process engineering. The role requires standing up schedules, coordinating design teams, and ensuring contract compliance from proposal to close-out.

Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s in engineering or architecture and 8+ years of design leadership, plus PM certification or eligibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in a design discipline leading to independent lead designer.
  • Professional registration or eligible preferred.
  • PMP certification is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all Prime Contract requirements.
  • Develop, monitor, and update a sequenced project design schedule and inform the team of changes.
  • Prequalify design consultants.
  • Prepare Professional Service Agreements to minimize risk.
  • Evaluate and distribute changes affecting scope and schedule.
  • Prepare clear project communications, both oral and written.
  • Build relationships with clients and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Commit to safe work practices during design and field activities.
  • Facilitate and monitor design reviews to meet quality objectives.
  • Use standard PM tools and company policies from proposal through close-out.
  • Forecast and report project financial performance with leaders.

Job description

Scope of Position

The Project Design Manager executes design project management for small projects and/or those with limited disciplines from proposal phase through project closeout. Leads and inspires the design team to collaborate to achieve all project goals. This position will have an emphasis on Process engineering.

Job Responsibilities
  • Ensuresthe compliancewith all Prime Contract requirements.
  • Develops, monitors, and updates an efficiently sequenced project design schedule and regularly advises the project team of changes.
  • Assures design consultants are prequalified.
  • Prepares Professional Service Agreements for design consultants that minimize risk to the Company.
  • Evaluates and distributes changes/add services effecting project scope and schedule.
  • Prepares clear and concise project communications, oral and written.
  • Builds positive working relationships with current clients, internal and external, establishing a relationship of trust.
  • Displays a commitment to safe work practices both during design document development and in the field.
  • Facilitates and monitors design reviews of documents to ensure project quality objectives are achieved.
  • Utilizes standard project management tools and techniques that comply with all company policies from proposal through close-out.
  • Forecasts and reports project financial performance and reviews with design business unit leaders and project leaders (for integrated projects).
  • Solicits input from practice areas for development of fee proposal or change order requests/add services.
  • Travel as required.
Education & Years of Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture preferred
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in a design discipline leading to being an independent lead designer.
Qualifications
  • Professional registration or eligible (preferred).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification desired but not required.
  • Knowledge of various relevant architectural and engineering systems (e.g., facilities, process and/or packaging systems as applicable).
  • Knowledge of drawing production software and integration requirements for complete project modeling.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Ability to adjust to changing timelines, meet deadlines and excellent time management skills.
Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
