Job summary

Network Building + Consulting seeks a Design Manager to lead the design team responsible for accurate engineering drawings for telecommunication infrastructure and fiber networks. You will balance hands-on production with mentoring to ensure designs meet industry standards and budget goals.

The role requires 5+ years in fiber design, expertise in AutoCAD, GIS, and Microsoft Office, and strong leadership to guide a multidisciplinary team through field surveys, zoning, and site assessments.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years in fiber design (new builds, site mods, or fiber) with a proven track record of managing project budgets.
  • Technical Skills: Expert proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS, and Microsoft Office. Ability to interpret building codes.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of right-of-way, aerial pole surveys, cable placement, and construction techniques.
  • Leadership: Strong ability to work autonomously and manage a multidisciplinary team professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Manage daily operations, delegate tasks, and mentor junior designers to ensure professional growth and high-quality output.
  • Project Oversight: Lead the production of construction drawings, lease exhibits, and zoning plans. Ensure all designs are technically accurate and constructible.
  • Quality Control: Perform QA/QC reviews on engineering drawings and maintain company CAD standards and templates.
  • Technical Execution: Use AutoCAD and track site-specific designs, traffic control plans, and utility profiles.
  • Collaboration: Work with Market and Project Managers to allocate resources, troubleshoot performance issues, and meet scheduling deadlines.
  • Field Coordination: Oversee and assist with field activities, including site surveys (IKE), mappings, and civil investigations.
