Job description

The role

We're a forward deployed engineering studio. We embed with enterprise clients to help them figure out where AI actually belongs in their business, then build the systems that get them there. That means real problem solving and architecture work up front, and a paved path our clients' own teams can follow once we've built it.

You'd be working alongside partners who've built at top companies like Meta, Amazon, and Airbnb, and who've founded venture-backed startups. Our clients are large enterprises with billions in revenue and real operational complexity.

About us

We're a forward deployed engineering studio. We embed with enterprise clients to help them figure out where AI actually belongs in their business, then build the systems that get them there. That means real problem solving and architecture work up front, and a paved path our clients' own teams can follow once we've built it.

You'd be working alongside partners who've built at top companies like Meta, Amazon, and Airbnb, and who've founded venture-backed startups. Our clients are large enterprises with billions in revenue and real operational complexity.

The role

Clients come to us with a solution in mind. Often the problem underneath it is a different one, and the most valuable thing we do is find it before anyone writes code.

You'd be the design voice on our engagements: sitting with users, framing the actual problem, and designing software people are glad to use.

This is a small team. We need someone who can take an ambiguous problem and run with it.

What you'll own
  • Discovery. Talking to users in the field and in the office, and turning what you hear into a clear problem statement
  • End-to-end product design: flows, interaction, and visual craft
  • Prototyping. Using AI tools to get from idea to something clickable fast, so we're testing real things instead of debating abstractions
  • Design patterns for AI products. What to show when the model is uncertain, how people correct it, where automation should stop and defer
  • The quality bar for anything client-facing. You decide what ships looking good enough
  • Judgment. While AI can do a lot, we value human judgment and taste to steer AI in the right way.
What we're looking for
Required
  • 7+ years designing digital products, with shipped work you can walk us through
  • Excellent taste and judgment. A portfolio where the craft is obvious and the reasoning behind it is better
  • Experience at both large and small companies, so you know when to move fast and when process actually earns its keep
  • Strong discovery skills. You get past what people ask for to what they actually need
  • AI-forward. You use AI tools in your own practice to prototype, explore, and move faster
  • Comfortable building interactive prototypes, whether in code, in Figma, or with AI tooling
  • Ability to explain design decisions clearly to engineers, executives, and skeptics
Nice to have
  • Enterprise or consulting delivery experience, comfortable in front of a client
  • Design for complex operational or technical domains, where the users are experts and the workflows are dense
  • Design systems work
  • Front-end skills that let you take a prototype further yourself
  • Experience designing AI-native products
How we work

Small team, direct communication, short feedback loops. Two-week sprints. You'll work closely with engineering and product, and you'll have real say in what we take on and how we scope it. If you think something is a bad idea, we want to hear it early.

Why this is interesting

Most enterprise software is designed as if the people using it have no choice, and most AI features are bolted onto it without much thought. You'd have unusual latitude to do it properly: real access to users, clients who are committed and moving fast.
