Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Design Integration Electrical Engineer to support spacecraft and payload electrical integration tasks in the Vehicle Engineering Directorate, Western Region. This on-site role is located in Redondo Beach, CA and requires active SCI access or Top Secret clearance.

The position involves requirements development, harness design, and coordination with Manufacturing and Assembly teams. Generous benefits and potential for overtime or bonus may apply.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience (Level 3) or 3+ years with Master’s or 1 year with PhD.
  • Active SCI access or Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI access.
  • Experience with aerospace hardware design and integration.
  • Experience in electrical troubleshooting of components and equipment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project.

Design Integration Electrical Engineer - Level 3/4

to join the Vehicle Engineering Directorate within Western Region Engineering. In this role, you will support spacecraft, and/or payload electrical integration tasks. This position is located onsite in RedondoBeach,CA.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Electrical systems requirements development & analysis
  • System, subsystem, and unit-to-unit electrical block diagram generation
  • Power and command & telemetry hardware resource management and allocation
  • Electrical Connectivity development for spacecraft harness design
  • Fusing, signal integrity, and electrical interface compatibility analysis
  • Cable & Harness Design
  • Provide feedback regarding impacts of possible cost and/ or schedule changes
  • Work and execute independently with some technical oversight
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on best practices
  • Provide support to Manufacturing and Spacecraft Assembly and Test

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications for Design Integration Electrical Engineer - Level 3:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience; OR PhD in STEM with 1 year of relevant experience
  • Must have active SCI access at the time of application or an active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access within a reasonable period, as determined by the company, prior to the start date
  • Experience with aerospace hardware design and integration
  • Experience in electrical troubleshooting of components and equipment
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
Basic Qualifications for Design Integration Electrical Engineer - Level 4:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 8 years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree in STEM with 6 years of relevant experience; OR PhD in STEM with 4 years of relevant experience
  • Must have active SCI access at the time of application or an active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access within a reasonable period, as determined by the company, prior to the start date
  • Experience with aerospace hardware design and integration
  • Experience in electrical troubleshooting of components and equipment
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
Preferred Qualifications
  • Spacecraft and/or payload electrical design integration, cable & harness design, and/or command & telemetry database development background with experience through the entire system lifecycle from concept, design, production, integration, test, launch, to operation support
  • Demonstrated multidisciplinary skillset with the ability to work with manufacturing and other engineering disciplines
  • Understanding of electrical interface standards such as MIL-STD-1553, LVDS, RS-422, etc.
  • Previous experience with software tools such as PSPICE, MATLAB, Mentor Graphics, Routed Systems Design (RSD), HarneSys, CATIA V5, NX, Siemens Capital, Microsoft Access, Visio

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
