Job summary

Northrop Grumman's Space Sector in the Western Region is seeking a Design Integration Electrical Engineer - Level 3/4 to join the Vehicle Engineering Directorate. This onsite role is located in Redondo Beach, CA, and focuses on supporting spacecraft and payload electrical integration.

Responsibilities include developing electrical requirements, creating block diagrams, managing power and telemetry hardware, and mentoring junior engineers while coordinating with manufacturing and test teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 5+ years of relevant experience; or advanced degree and fewer years.
  • Active SCI access or Top Secret clearance required prior to start.
  • Experience with aerospace hardware design and integration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and analyze electrical requirements for spacecraft.
  • Create system, subsystem, and unit-level electrical diagrams.
  • Manage power and telemetry hardware resources.
  • Develop electrical harness designs for spacecraft cabling.
  • Perform fusing, signal integrity, and electrical interface analysis.
  • Design cable harness layouts.
  • Assess impacts of cost or schedule changes.
  • Work independently with technical oversight as needed.
  • Mentor junior engineers and share best practices.
  • Support Manufacturing and Spacecraft Assembly and Test activities.

Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is seeking a Design Integration Electrical Engineer - Level 3/4 to join the Vehicle Engineering Directorate within Western Region Engineering.

In this role, you will support spacecraft, and/or payload electrical integration tasks. This position is located onsite in Redondo Beach, CA.

Job Responsibilities
  • Electrical systems requirements development & analysis
  • System, subsystem, and unit-to-unit electrical block diagram generation
  • Power and command & telemetry hardware resource management and allocation
  • Electrical Connectivity development for spacecraft harness design
  • Fusing, signal integrity, and electrical interface compatibility analysis
  • Cable & Harness Design
  • Provide feedback regarding impacts of possible cost and/ or schedule changes
  • Work and execute independently with some technical oversight
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on best practices
  • Provide support to Manufacturing and Spacecraft Assembly and Test
Basic Qualifications (Level 3)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience; OR PhD in STEM with 1 year of relevant experience
  • Must have active SCI access at the time of application or an active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access within a reasonable period, as determined by the company, prior to the start date
  • Experience with aerospace hardware design and integration
  • Experience in electrical troubleshooting of components and equipment
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
Basic Qualifications (Level 4)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 8 years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree in STEM with 6 years of relevant experience; OR PhD in STEM with 4 years of relevant experience
  • Must have active SCI access at the time of application or an active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access within a reasonable period, as determined by the company, prior to the start date
  • Experience with aerospace hardware design and integration
  • Experience in electrical troubleshooting of components and equipment
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
Preferred Qualifications
  • Spacecraft and/or payload electrical design integration, cable & harness design, and/or command & telemetry database development background with experience through the entire system lifecycle from concept, design, production, integration, test, launch, to operation support
  • Demonstrated multidisciplinary skillset with the ability to work with manufacturing and other engineering disciplines
  • Understanding of electrical interface standards such as MIL-STD-1553, LVDS, RS-422, etc.
  • Previous experience with software tools such as PSPICE, MATLAB, Mentor Graphics, Routed Systems Design (RSD), HarneSys, CATIA V5, NX, Siemens Capital, Microsoft Access, Visio
Salary Range

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.

Clearance Required for Start: Yes; Clearance Type: Top Secret; Travel: Yes, 10% of the Time.
