Job summary

Northrop Grumman, Space Sector, is seeking an Opto-Mechanical Engineer (Level 3/4) to join the Vehicle Engineering Directorate within Western Region Engineering. This on-site role is located in Redondo Beach, CA.

Responsibilities include performing opto-mechanical engineering across development stages, drafting technical data packages, and conducting analysis to validate designs against performance, durability, and cost targets. A Top Secret clearance or SCI access is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5 years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience; OR PhD in STEM with 1 year of relevant experience
  • Active SCI access at application or an active Top-Secret clearance with SCI access within a reasonable period prior to start date
  • Experience with electromechanical, opto-mechanical, or mechanisms design
  • Experience with Creo, SolidWorks, NX, or CATIA V5/3dExp industry CAD software

Responsibilities

  • Perform opto-mechanical engineering on multiple projects through all phases of development and manufacturing
  • Conduct technical specifications, conceptual designs, trade studies, detail designs, procedures, assembly, testing, and reports
  • Assist with technical data packages including fabrication, source control, and assembly drawings in accordance with internal drawing standards
  • Perform engineering analysis to validate design solutions with respect to technical performance, environmental durability, manufacturability, schedule and cost
  • Support the on-time execution of development programs by proactively mitigating risks and pursuing opportunities
  • Assist with internal design reviews, provide, and incorporate feedback from reviewers and management
  • Employ strong interpersonal and communication skills while contributing to an integrated product team
  • Demonstrate accountability to obtain results and contribute to organizational objectives

NorthropGrumman'sSpaceSector is seeking an Opto-Mechanical Engineer - Level 3/4 to join the Vehicle Engineering Directorate within Western Region Engineering. This position is located onsite in RedondoBeach,CA.

Basic Qualifications Opto-Mechanical Engineer - Level 3
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience; OR PhD in STEM with 1 year of relevant experience
  • Must have active SCI access at the time of application or an active Top-Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access within a reasonable period, as determined by the company, prior to the start date
  • Experience with electromechanical, opto-mechanical, or mechanisms design
  • Experience with Creo, Solidworks, NX, or CATIA V5/3dExp industry CAD software
Basic Qualifications Opto-Mechanical Engineer - Level 4
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 8 years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree in STEM with 6 years of relevant experience; OR PhD in STEM with 4 years of relevant experience
  • Must have active SCI access at the time of application or an active Top-Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access within a reasonable period, as determined by the company, prior to the start date
  • Experience with electromechanical, opto-mechanical, or mechanisms design
  • Experience with Creo, Solidworks, NX, or CATIA V5/3dExp industry CAD software
Preferred Qualifications
  • M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM technical discipline
  • Experience with the design, development, analysis, and verification of opto-mechanical or mechanized or electro-mechanical products
  • Proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T)
  • Experience working on Special Access Programs
  • Active U.S. Government TS/SCI clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
