Job summary

The State Highway Administration (SHA) is seeking a Transportation Engineer I – Design to support design-related activities in Baltimore City, Hanover, or SHA District Offices statewide. The role may involve evaluating design criteria, developing alternatives, attending public meetings, and performing traffic-related analyses.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in civil/ transportation engineering and preferred coursework in traffic/ transportation engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/transportation engineering from an accredited program.
• No experience required.
• Preferred: coursework in traffic/transportation engineering with a grade of C or better.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design-related functions to meet project goals and develop alternatives.
• Attend public meetings and evaluate design criteria against project constraints.
• Perform constructability reviews and review/design roadway plans.
• Perform construction inspection for proposed roadway improvements.
• Provide traffic/travel demand information and conduct traffic engineering analyses.

Education

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering and/or transportation systems engineering from an accredited college or university

Coursework in traffic engineering and/or transportation engineering with a grade of C or better
