Job summary

Jobot seeks a Design Engineering Manager in Illinois to lead a high-impact team responsible for design engineering and product development. You will drive design strategies, oversee timelines and budgets, and partner with manufacturing and supply teams to deliver manufacturable drawings and BOMs.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical engineering degree, 8–10 years in engineering design, 3–5 years in leadership, and a strong CAD background with AutoCAD and Inventor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably mechanical engineering.
• 8–10 years of experience in engineering design.
• 3–5 years in a managerial or team leadership role.
• Strong experience in manufacturing design environments.
• Experience improving drawings, BOMs, and design for manufacturability.
• Proficiency with CAD software.
• Strong background using AutoCAD and Inventor.
• Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations.
• Proven ability to lead teams, solve design issues, and manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design engineering and PE teams to ensure strong performance and productivity.
• Develop and implement design strategies, processes, and engineering best practices.
• Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project execution.
• Drive innovation around manufacturability and improve engineering drawings and bills of material.
• Resolve technical issues and provide leadership on complex design challenges.
• Prepare and present design proposals and project updates to management.
• Collaborate with internal and external manufacturing and supply teams.
• Support continuous improvement across the design and engineering function.
