Job summary

Amphenol Fiber Systems International (AFSI) in Allen, Texas, seeks a Design Engineering Manager to lead the engineering team in developing new products and technologies, support existing products, and partner with product management, operations, and sales.

You will guide design from concept through production, ensuring schedules, quality, and cost targets are met while mentoring staff and advancing technology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of engineering leadership experience with multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience leading new product development from concept through production.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and assembly documentation.
• Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, or equivalent preferred).
• Strong knowledge of AS9100, PLM systems, configuration management, and engineering change processes.
• Excellent leadership, communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.
• U.S Citizen or Permanent Resident to satisfy ITAR requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the engineering team.
• Interface with product managers, sales/BD, systems engineering and customers to understand product requirements.
• Plan and organize engineering efforts and drive detailed designs meeting new product requirements.
• Focus on quality, schedule, and cost; ensure designs are well documented.
• Manage resources and communicate schedule changes; allocate work.
• Collaborate with executives, PLM, sales to define technology direction.
• Provide employee development, teambuilding, coaching and mentoring.
• Support engineering processes in manufacturing and operations.
