Job summary

Premier PV is seeking a Design Engineering Manager to lead a team of design engineers, guiding the execution of eBOS product development and engineering deliverables while prioritizing assignments and performance.

The role involves collaborating with procurement, manufacturing, and clients to ensure feasible, compliant, and cost-effective designs across projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related engineering discipline (ABET‑accredited).
  • 8–12 years of engineering experience, including 2–3 years in a leadership role.
  • Solid understanding of eBOS products and manufacturing requirements.
  • Strong communication and project coordination skills.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop design engineers in technical skills, processes, and career growth.
  • Assign resources, review work, and ensure timely engineering releases for assigned projects.
  • Oversee design reviews, compliance documentation, and engineering packages.
  • Drive Design for Manufacturability, Design for Serviceability, and Design for Installation principles within product designs.
  • Support cost-reduction initiatives and continuous improvement efforts across product lines.
  • Collaborate closely with procurement, supply chain, and manufacturing to ensure design feasibility and supplier capability.
  • Maintain alignment with company standards and applicable codes (NEC, UL, IEEE, NFPA).
  • Manage and lead electrical engineers across all project participants to conceptualize and develop preliminary design documents in accordance with technical, commercial and code compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop design engineers in technical skills, processes, and career growth.
  • Assign resources, review work, and ensure timely engineering releases for assigned projects.

  • Establish electrical engineering standards, processes, and automation systems to reduce time, effort, and cost during the design process.
  • Work closely with the procurement team to evaluate technology, materials and alternatives that place Premier PV in an industry‑leading position.
  • Work closely with the estimating team to capture all scope of work, design aspects and any specific client requirements.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their engineering and design needs and use this insight to guide the engineering group in designing efficient and competitive PV systems.
  • Collaborate with business development and client services to support and achieve business goals.
  • Assign, develop, train, mature, mentor, hire, and manage personnel across projects throughout the program.
  • Establish and communicate project and program objectives and expectations to facilitate understanding across participants.
  • Ensure engineering and design deliverables are provided on time and within budget.
  • Instill confidence in the team using good project‑management principles and practices including communication, planning, coordination, collaboration, control, and reporting.
  • Measure and report progress as appropriate.
  • Check technical accuracy of work and oversee quality management system procedures for the work produced by the group.
  • Coordinate engineering activities of the unit with other units or organizations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
