Job summary

Tate Americas, Columbia, MD, is seeking an Engineering Manager – Design Engineering to lead the design engineering team across multiple projects. You will translate requirements into manufacturable designs, manage schedules, and ensure BOMs and drawings meet all standards and timelines.

Reporting to the Director of Design Engineering, you will coach engineers, drive early risk identification, and coordinate with manufacturing, procurement, and project teams to ensure on-time delivery and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
• 7–10 years of progressive engineering experience in manufacturing, fabricated-products, or engineered-to-order environments.
• Minimum of 3 years of engineering leadership or people-management experience.
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple complex engineering projects simultaneously.
• Strong understanding of design release, configuration control, engineering BOMs, and change-management processes.
• Experience with manufacturing, procurement, project management, and customer-facing teams.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD and engineering-document-management systems; Autodesk Inventor, Vault, Revit, AutoCAD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day execution of design engineering across multiple projects.
• Translate requirements into complete, manufacturable designs and deliverables.
• Develop and maintain detailed engineering schedules aligned with approvals, procurement, and manufacturing dates.
• Ensure design packages, models, customer submittals, fabrication drawings, and BOMs are complete and on time.
• Identify risks early and elevate with clear recommendations.
• Lead technical problem-solving during design, procurement, fabrication, assembly, and installation.
• Mentor and develop design engineers and engineering leads.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, procurement, and project management.
• Improve engineering workflows, tools, templates, and documentation standards.
