Job summary

Stellar Industries, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Design Intern in Ohio to assist with the development, installation and operation of machines and systems. You will create assembly and production drawings, review designs, and support engineering calculations under supervision.

As an undergraduate engineering student, you will gain hands-on experience with CAD tools, simulations and manufacturing processes while contributing to team projects and meeting cost objectives and deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate student studying mechanical, industrial, or aerospace engineering or related field.
  • Paid internship offering real design experience and exposure to manufacturing capabilities.
  • Involvement with team projects including cost objectives and deadlines; understanding design validation via testing program.

Responsibilities

  • Perform design calculations and prepare equipment or material specifications.
  • Develop production drawings per engineering layouts and create assembly drawings for plant assembly and product manuals.
  • Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, standards, and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate technical development, scheduling and problem resolution under Engineering Manager guidance.

Summary:

Design and oversee the development, installation and operation of machines, equipment or systems taking into account cost, availability of materials, strength and maintenance requirements, safety and manufacturability, appearance, impact on the user and on the environment. This position will create assembly drawings, bills of materials and develop production drawings per engineering layouts.

  • Perform design calculations and prepare equipment and/or material specifications.
  • Will have the opportunity to perform designs using Autocad, SolidWorks and Simulation (FEA) software.
  • Develop production drawings per engineering layouts and create assembly drawings for plant assembly and product manuals.
  • Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications.
  • Coordinate activities concerned with the technical developments, scheduling and resolving engineering design and test problems.Perform duties reasonably assigned by Engineering Manager
  • PC applications including Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel.
  • AutoCAD and Solidworks experience.
  • Ability to measure accurately using machine tools.
  • Excel in interpersonal and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Mathematical skills such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Must have initiative, be willing to work independently and as part of a team, possess a strong desire to learn, and enjoy computing and technical design, be practical and creative.
