Job summary

Silco Fire & Security in Columbus, OH is seeking a Design Engineering Coordinator to help coordinate design efforts between design, sales, and operations. You will maintain project tracking, assist with permit and submittal packages, and support the Design Manager with workload tracking and process follow-up.

The role requires strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to work with project teams.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and active projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow established processes and maintain accurate records.
• Strong attention to detail, especially with project documents and status tracking.
• Ability to work effectively with designers, sales, project managers, technicians, and customers.
• Familiarity with project management software and MS Office; Procore is a plus.

• Maintaining design project tracking information and ensuring milestones are current.
• Assisting with design documentation, permit packages, submittal packages, revised drawings, and approval tracking.
• Following up on missing information required to complete design work.
• Supporting the Design Manager with workload tracking, reporting, meeting preparation, and process follow-up.
• Ensuring design files and documentation are stored and maintained.
• Helping improve consistency and visibility across the design process.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring design files, records, and supporting documentation are properly stored and maintained.
• Helping improve consistency, accountability, and visibility across the fire alarm and suppression design process.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and active projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow established processes and maintain accurate records.
• Strong attention to detail, especially when handling project documents, submittals, and status tracking.
• Ability to work effectively with designers, sales team members, project managers, technicians, and customers.
• Comfortable using project management software, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, and file storage systems. Experience with Procore is a plus.
• Ability to follow up consistently and professionally on open items.
• Basic understanding of construction, permitting, fire alarm, fire suppression, or design processes preferred.
