Job summary

Method is seeking its first Design Engineer to own the craft layer across all web properties, including the website, design system, demos, and product. You will collaborate closely with the Head of Design to set aesthetic direction, make technical calls, and ship high-quality frontend work.

The role focuses on frontend craft, GPU-driven visuals, and a design system that can adapt to partner brands, with open-source influence and a signal to contribute to the wider design and creative-coding

Qualifications

• Experience shipping interactive web work with shaders.
• Proficiency in GPU rendering and in-browser performance.
• Production design systems and component libraries.
• Ability to work as an individual contributor.
• Portfolio showing shader-based UI work.

Responsibilities

• Own the visual and interactive quality of the design system across surfaces.
• Build shader-based experiences for the website using Three.js and WebGL.
• Redesign and elevate the dashboard with polished data visualization and generative UI.
• Architect a dynamic component library for on-the-fly UI construction.
• Evaluate bespoke work vs. existing tooling and communicate tradeoffs.
• Reduce reliance on contractors for production design and frontend UI.
• Collaborate with engineers and Head of Design on direction and hiring as needed.
