Job summary

Initi8 Recruitment is partnering with a fast-moving tech company seeking a frontend engineer and designer who can own both product design and engineering aspects. You will shape interfaces, build scalable design systems, and ship production-ready code in a hybrid startup setting.

You will collaborate with product, engineering, and commercial teams, prototype rapidly using modern tools and AI workflows, and contribute to core platform workflows and landing pages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) or equivalent practical startup/agency experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on product design and frontend engineering experience.
• Ability to translate user journeys into intuitive experiences.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain core design systems, component libraries, and design tokens across web and mobile.
• Craft high-converting landing pages, growth assets, and core platform workflows.

Job description

You will operate right at the intersection of product design and engineering, with full ownership over how users experience the platform. You will design and ship elegant user interfaces, establish scalable design systems across web and mobile applications, and write production code to bring your designs to life.

Day-to-day, you will:

• Design, build, and maintain core design systems, component libraries, and design tokens across web and mobile.
• Craft high-converting landing pages, growth assets, and core platform workflows that make complex processes seamless.
• Rapidly prototype new features and interface concepts using modern design tools and AI workflows to validate decisions before full rollout.
• Build and refine frontend workflows, automated visual testing, and handoff processes to accelerate team velocity.
• Partner directly with product, engineering, and commercial teams to translate product requirements into clean, performant interfaces.

About you

You are a builder with high agency who thrives in early-stage, fast-paced startup environments. You know how to ship high-quality code, have an obsession with craft and micro-interactions, and do not wait around for permission to solve problems. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or equivalent practical startup/agency experience is expected.

Key requirements and technologies:

• 2+ years of hands-on experience in product design and frontend engineering.
• Strong background as an early engineer, designer, or founder within a startup or fast-moving digital agency.
• Proven ability to understand user workflows and translate complex user journeys into intuitive experiences.
• CSS / Modern Styling frameworks (Tailwind, CSS Modules, or CSS-in-JS)
• Rapid Prototyping tools (Framer, Protopie, or AI-assisted prototyping workflows)
