Job summary

Polaris Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, validate, and release exterior plastics and interior trim components.

You will lead from concept through launch, coordinating with Design, Vehicle Architecture, and suppliers to deliver manufacturable solutions that meet performance, quality, durability, and cost goals. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in plastic component development, expertise in 3D CAD (Creo preferred), DFMEA, DVP&R, and mold flow analysis, with travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of product development experience with plastic components or interior trim systems.
• Experience with injection molded plastic components and manufacturability.
• Knowledge of thermoplastic materials for aesthetics and structure.
• Proficient with 3D CAD modeling and engineering drawings; Creo preferred.
• Working knowledge of GD&T, DFMEA, DVP&R, and root cause analysis.
• Experience with tooling development, mold flow analysis, and supplier management.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, validation, and production release of exterior plastic and interior trim components.
• Translate styling intent into manufacturable production designs with Design partners.
• Maintain 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and release docs with cross-functional teams.
• Develop interfaces, attachment strategies, and assembly concepts for integration.
• Manage deliverables, schedules, issues, and risks to meet timing and cost goals.
• Coordinate with Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Validation, and suppliers.
• Support material selection, tooling development, DFMEA, DVP&R, and production launch.
• Investigate design/manufacturing issues using structured problem solving.
