Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Design Engineer in Cedar Rapids, IA to design tooling with SolidWorks for ductile iron casting and run MAGMA simulations to validate designs before production. You will own yield improvement and drive continuous casting-process improvements, collaborating with customers and account managers on new products.

The ideal candidate holds an associate degree in engineering (bachelor's preferred) and 2+ years of CAD experience, with foundry or casting exposure considered a strong

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering or related field; bachelor's preferred.
• 2+ years hands-on CAD modeling, blueprint reading, and DFM.
• Manufacturing background with foundry, tooling, casting simulation or CNC machining a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and cross-team communication.

Responsibilities

• Build and refine tooling using SolidWorks for ductile iron casting programs.
• Run MAGMA casting simulations to validate designs before production.
• Own yield improvement and continuous improvement across casting processes.
• Collaborate with customers and account managers on new product development.
• Support quoting, launches, testing, and validation from start to finish.
• Introduce new technology and process improvements to operations.

What you'll do

• Build and refine tooling using SolidWorks in support of ductile iron casting programs
• Run casting simulations in MAGMA to validate designs before they hit the floor
• Own yield improvement and continuous improvement work across the casting process
• Partner directly with customers and account managers on new product development
• Support quoting, product launches, testing and validation from start to finish
• Bring new technology and process improvements into the operation

What we're looking for

• Associate degree in engineering or a related field, bachelor's preferred
• Two or more years working hands on with CAD modeling, blueprint reading and design for manufacturability
• Manufacturing background required, foundry, tooling design, casting simulation or CNC machining experience is a strong plus
• Strong problem solver who communicates well and works across teams easily
