Job summary

Hydrasearch in Stevensville, MD is seeking a Design Engineer to lead mechanical design for marine product lines in an AS9100 environment. You will translate requirements into manufacturable 3D models, define production methods, and support the hands-on assembly of maritime hardware.

You will create GD&T drawings and manage design data with PDM systems. Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and 1–3 years of experience, with strong CAD skills and familiarity with metal

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 1–3 years of engineering experience.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and drawing creation; strong fundamentals in mechanical design and statics.
• Experience with machined, cast, or forged metal components.
• Familiarity with marine propulsion hardware (rudders, struts, shafts, or couplings).
• Hands-on experience defining manufacturing routers or work instructions.
• Exposure to AS9100 or ISO 9001 environments.

Responsibilities

• Product Development: Support the design of mechanical components and assemblies; translate product requirements into clear technical documentation and 3D models.
• Manufacturing Definition: Maintain the "Product DNA," including Items, BOMs, Routers, and Work Instructions. Define the sequences and methods required for stable production.
• Engineering Change Management: Execute ECR/ECO processes to support product improvements and ensure all technical data remains current and accurate.
• Operations Support: Provide real-time troubleshooting on the production floor for issues related to materials, tolerances, or assembly.
• Process Improvement: Evaluate and implement manufacturing enhancements focused on quality, efficiency, and cost reduction.
• Supply Chain Liaison: Support technical communication with suppliers regarding components or specialized outside processes.
