Job summary

Goken is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support large-scale product development, performing design using 3-D modeling software, and creating 2-D drawings. You will work across teams to resolve complex problems and define part specs and BOMs for automotive plastic components.

The role requires Catia V5/V6 experience, DFMEA/GD&T knowledge, and cost/material analysis to optimize designs. Travel to client sites will be required, with opportunities for professional growth and collaboration

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 2–5 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's with 4+ years, or Associate's with 5+ years in Automotive Plastic design.
  • Specialties: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive or Manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience with DFMEA, GD&T, DFM.
  • Proficiency in Catia V5/V6 for 3D modeling and 2D drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support engineering activities for large scale product development programs by investigating feasibility, modeling in 3-D, conducting layout review and creating 2D drawings.
  • Analyze and resolve complex problems independently or with minimal guidance.
  • Create part specification requirements and BOM.
  • Negotiate with surrounding component business units and suppliers.
  • Perform cost analysis, strength calculations and material selection.
  • Use best practices to improve product and/or processes.
  • Search for ways to increase efficiency and reduce design and parts costs.
  • Travel to client sites required.

Summary:

This role will support engineering design and development activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and resolve complex problems independently or with minimal guidance.
  • Create part specification requirements and BOM.
  • Negotiate with surrounding component business units and suppliers.
  • Perform cost analysis, strength calculations and material selection.
  • Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve product and/or processes.
  • Search new ways to increase overall efficiency, utilize up-to-date technology, and reduce design and parts costs
  • Travel to client sites required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 2-5 years relevant industry experience or Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years relevant industry experience or Associate’s degree and 5+ years Automotive Plastic design experience.
  • Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge and working experience with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), DFM (Design for Manufacturing)
  • Experience using both Catia V5/V6 to create 3-D models and 2D drawings is required.
  • The ability to work effectively in a cross functional group setting, including essential technical guidance to support Senior Management
  • Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and tooling
  • Exposure to CAE preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS office.
