Job summary

Condux International is seeking a Design Engineer for New Product Development to drive concepts into production. You will turn customer needs into practical engineering solutions, make critical decisions, and coordinate with product management, marketing, operations, and quality teams.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3+ years in product development, with Creo CAD proficiency, prototyping, testing, and strong knowledge of lifecycle and DFMEA/FEA practices.

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (Creo preferred)

  • Familiarity with FEA, DFMA and DFMEA
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage assigned engineering work
  • Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills
  • Experience with complex assemblies containing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems

Design Engineer – New Product Development

Reports To: Engineering Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt (Salary)

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Schedule varies based on business needs)

Position Summary

The NPD Design Engineer will play a key role in developing new tools and equipment from concept through production. NPD will turn customer needs into practical engineering solutions, make and validate technical decisions, manage their engineering commitments, and work across departments to bring great products to market.

Essential Functions
  • New Product Development – Contribute to the design and development of new products from concept through production using a Stage-Gate?process. Translate customer and market requirements into engineering specifications. Design and validate products to meet performance, safety, and regulatory?standards.
  • Collaboration –Collaborate with product management, marketing, operations, and quality teams to align on objectives and drive successful project execution.
  • Engineering Design & Validation – Create and review engineering documentation and product specifications. Oversee prototyping and iterative testing to validate design concepts. Apply tools such as FEA and DFMEA to evaluate performance and mitigate risk.
  • Project Execution – Plan and manage assigned engineering work, meet agreed milestones, communicate progress and risks, and support project leaders in delivering products on schedule and within budget. Support manufacturing during product launch and troubleshoot engineering issues as needed.
Safety Responsibilities
  • Follow all company safety policies, rules, and procedures at all times.
  • Comprehend, retain, and comply with established safety programs and training requirements.
  • Identify and promptly report unsafe conditions or behaviors; support corrective actions.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in product development, (complex mechanical equipment preferred) ?
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (Creo preferred) ?
  • Experience with prototyping, testing, and product validation
  • Strong understanding of the product lifecycle and engineering processes?
  • Familiarity with FEA, DFMA and DFMEA
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage assigned engineering work and juggle multiple priorities
  • Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills?
  • Experience with complex assemblies that incorporate mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems ?
  • Constructive, collaborative mindset – Approaches challenges with curiosity, takes ownership of problems, welcomes feedback, and contributes to a positive team environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with ISO-compliant product development processes.
  • Exposure to materials, manufacturing processes, and cost-reduction methods.
  • Experience supporting supplier qualification and component selection.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Familiarity with engineering change processes and manufacturing documentation.
  • Exposure to continuous improvement or process optimization activities.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in an office and manufacturing environment with exposure to machine and production noise.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the facility as required.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 – 30 pounds.
  • Ability to set for extended periods while working at a computer.
  • Ability to occasionally work extended or additional hours to meet project or production demands.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, including listening and speaking, and reading technical documents.

Safety Equipment

Steel-toed safety shoes and approved eye protection with side shields are required when working in production areas. Hearing protection is required in posted areas in accordance with safety signage and company policy. Additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required based on the specific task or work environment.
