Job summary

Van Cleef Engineering are seeking a Design Engineer in Hamilton, NJ with 4–5 years of Municipal or private/land development experience. You will design site grading, drainage and stormwater systems, and prepare NJDEP permits.

Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and MS Office is required, with strong communication and teamwork skills. The role offers competitive compensation and benefits, with an emphasis on professional growth within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary firm.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field.
• EIT certification preferred.
• 4-5 years of experience in Municipal and Private/Land Development engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare or assist with the design of site grading, drainage, utilities, soil erosion/sediment control measures, and stormwater management systems.
• Prepare or assist with the preparation of NJDEP and other agency permit applications related to wetlands, flood hazard areas and stormwater management.
• Knowledge of local Municipal Land Use Ordinances to assist with review of site plans and stormwater management plans.
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to prepare engineering designs and calculations.
• Prepare engineering reports to support design elements of projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare construction cost estimates.
• Prepare or assist with preparations of specifications for public bidding under NJ Local Public Contracts Law.
• Engage in regular communication with project managers and team members on task status.
