Job summary

Van Cleef Engineering Associates in Hamilton, NJ is seeking a Design Engineer with municipal or private/land development experience to join our team. The role focuses on site grading, drainage, utilities, and stormwater systems, using AutoCAD Civil 3D for designs and calculations.

You will prepare permit applications, review plans, and collaborate with project managers to deliver projects on time. A B.S. in Civil Engineering and 4–5 years of relevant experience are required; EIT preferred.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field
• EIT certification preferred
• 4-5 years of Municipal/Private Development engineering experience
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Design site grading, drainage, utilities, soil erosion/sediment control measures, and stormwater management systems
• Prepare or assist with NJDEP and other agency permit applications related to wetlands, flood hazard areas and stormwater management
• Knowledge of local Municipal Land Use Ordinances to assist with review of site plans, subdivision plans, plot plans and stormwater management plans
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D design tools to prepare engineering designs and calculations
• Prepare engineering reports to support various design elements of projects
• Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare construction cost estimates
• Prepare or assist with the preparations of specifications for public bidding based upon the NJ Local Public Contracts Law and the NJ Local Public Schools Contract Law
• Engage in regular communication with project managers and other team members regarding status and progress of tasks

Due to our continued growth, we are currently seeking a Design Engineer with relevant Municipal or Private/Land Development experience to join our team in our Hamilton, NJ office.

Key Responsibilities

Compensation:

Van Cleef Engineering Associates is committed to pay transparency and equitable compensation practices in compliance with applicable laws, including the New Jersey Equal Pay Act. The estimated salary range for this position will fall between $75,000 - $95,000. The starting salary offered is contingent upon a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience/skillset, educational qualifications, and professional certifications, as well as internal pay equity and geographic location.
