Job summary

Van Cleef Engineering Associates in Hamilton, NJ is seeking a Design Engineer with Municipal or Private/Land Development experience to join our team. You will design site grading, drainage, utilities, and stormwater systems, and prepare permit applications with NJDEP and other agencies.

The ideal candidate has a B.S. in Civil Engineering, 4–5 years of relevant experience, and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and MS Office.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field.
• EIT certification preferred.
• 4–5 years of Municipal and Private/Land Development engineering experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare or assist with the design of site grading, drainage, utilities, soil erosion/sediment control measures, and stormwater management systems.
• Prepare or assist with the preparation of NJDEP and other agency permit applications related to wetlands, flood hazard areas and stormwater management.
• Knowledge of local Municipal Land Use Ordinances to review site plans, subdivision plans, plot plans and stormwater management plans.
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D design tools to prepare engineering designs and calculations.
• Prepare engineering reports to support design elements of projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare construction cost estimates.
• Prepare or assist with the preparation of specifications for public bidding under NJ Local Public Contracts Law.
• Engage in communication with project managers and team members on task status.
