Job summary

InSite Engineering is seeking a Design Engineer to join our civil team in New Jersey. The role supports land development projects from concept through construction, collaborating with Project Managers, Professional Engineers, and clients.

You will design grading, drainage, utilities, roadways, and stormwater systems using Civil 3D/AutoCAD, prepare calculations and permitting documentation, and coordinate with agencies and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college.
• EIT certification or actively pursuing licensure.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering plans and technical designs for residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use land development projects.
• Design grading, drainage, utility, roadway, and stormwater management systems in accordance with local and state regulations.
• Develop engineering plans and construction documents using Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
• Prepare engineering calculations, zoning analyses, cost estimates, bond estimates, and supporting technical documentation.
• Research and interpret municipal ordinances, land development regulations, and permitting requirements.
• Assist in preparing permit applications and coordinating with local, county, and state agencies.
• Participate in client meetings, municipal meetings, and project coordination with architects, attorneys, contractors, and other consultants.
• Conduct site visits, field investigations, and construction observations as needed.
• Manage multiple project assignments while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to support projects from conceptual planning through construction.
• Mentor junior engineering staff and provide technical guidance as experience grows.
