Job summary

Cullerton Group is seeking a Design Engineer 4 to support the design and development of foundry tooling and casting processes in a manufacturing environment. The role focuses on creating and optimizing tooling designs using CAD software, improving product quality, and reducing lead times.

Work with cross-functional teams to resolve casting issues and support production in both office and shop floor settings.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, foundry, or tooling design.
  • Strong experience with CAD software (Creo preferred).
  • Experience with foundry processes (no-bake, cold box, casting).
  • Ability to read and interpret machining drawings and GD&T.
  • Experience with tooling design (patterns, core boxes, layout, clearances, offsets).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop foundry tooling (patterns and core boxes) using CAD software.
  • Support tooling RFQs, layout development, and design modifications to improve quality and manufacturability.
  • Analyze and resolve casting defects through process improvements and design changes.
  • Perform simulation and modeling (e.g., flow analysis) to optimize casting processes.
  • Collaborate with engineers, tool designers, and production teams to support tooling build and implementation.
  • Interpret machining prints, drawings, and GD&T requirements to ensure accurate designs.
  • Work with suppliers and internal teams to support tooling projects and timelines.
