Job summary

Marvin is seeking a Design Engineer Intern in West Fargo, ND to support the R&D and Engineering teams by engaging in design activities, building prototypes, and performing analyses to ensure accuracy and compliance.

You will gain hands-on experience with 2D/3D modeling, drafting, testing, and documentation, while collaborating with engineers and designers. This internship offers exposure to product development, installation testing, and company benefits as part of Marvin's team.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an Engineering degree program pursuing a bachelor's degree.
• Knowledge of 2D/3D modeling software (Inventor preferred) and MS Office.
• Positive team player with self-motivation and dependability.
• Able to problem-solve and communicate effectively.
• Good organizational, interpersonal, and multitasking abilities; comfortable with power tools and computing equipment.

Job Overview

This role is responsible for supporting the R&D department by participating in design activities, building/testing prototypes, preparing test samples, and performing Engineering analysis to ensure designs meet requirements. Also provides drafting/modeling and document management support and participates in prototype builds, buck builds and install windows and doors for testing.

Highlights of your role

• Design Activities: Work with engineers and designers to support product updates and/or creation of new product design concepts. Assist with building bucks and units, installation of units and testing of component design or full assembly units.
• Document Management: Provide drafting support to drawings, models and documents using 3D modeling software. Maintain print planners, create redlines and update prints according to drafting standards.
• Technical Support: Assist engineers by performing engineering calculations and analysis. Provide support to review designs to ensure fit, form, and function is correct.
• Product Knowledge: Become intimately familiar with product components and designs, understanding how design relates to field performance and certification requirements.

• Must be enrolled in an Engineering degree program pursuing a bachelor's degree
• Working knowledge of 2D and 3D Modeling software (Inventor preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.) preferred
• Must be able to be a positive member of a team environment, an individual who possesses self-motivation skills and is dependable and trustworthy
• Must be able to problem-solve and communicate effectively
• Must possess proficient organizational, interpersonal, and multi-tasking abilities and be able to work with power tools and computer equipment
