Job summary

City of Kent seeks an experienced Design Engineer 3 to lead the planning and design of streets, utilities, and other municipal public works projects. You will oversee the project from concept through design review, mentor staff, and coordinate with multiple departments and outside agencies.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and six years of design experience. This is a full-time, non-union position with panel interviews and a written exam as part of the selection

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Six years of technical civil engineering design experience.
• Strong design review and mentoring capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design of streets, levees, sewers, water mains and other municipal projects.
• Coordinate with departments and outside agencies; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Prepare and review plans, specifications and permits; mentor junior engineers.
• Manage project scope, budget and schedule; coordinate grant applications.
