Job summary

NDX Human Capital Solutions is seeking an experienced Design Engineer to lead a small team in the development of mechanical systems using CAD and FEA. You will guide concept development, detail drawing execution, and design reviews within a collaborative project team.

The role requires strong CAD skills (Creo/NX/Catia), experience with Ansys Mechanical, and solid communication; travel may be involved, with a focus on delivering robust designs that meet specifications.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent.
• Experience with parametric 3D modeling and GD&T.
• Creo/NX and/or Catia CAD proficiency; Ansys Mechanical experience.
• US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required.

OVERVIEW:

Experienced design engineer with core responsibilities including product and system design and development with an ability to lead the technical execution of a small team. The main focus will be mechanical system and product design using CAD and structural analysis (FEA), supported by systems modeling to substantiate the lower-level decisions. This position’s responsibilities will span from initial concepts through detailed drawing execution while working within a project team under the review of a design team lead. System-level design leadership and direction is a responsibility of this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS

Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Vehicle and Product System Design and Development

• System physics modeling and characterization.
• CAD system and component concept development and packaging.
• Application of linear-static Finite Element Analysis in design optimization.
• Prepare and present project status reports.
• Test design, development, and reporting (DVP&R).
• Guidance of lower-level engineers in their efforts.

Project Support

• Support and resolve customer problems using mechanical, analytical, CAE and project management skills.
• Prepare technical specifications.
• Develop testing methods and procedures.
• Support manufacturing by answering questions and responding to ECRs.
• Investigate alternative business opportunities.
• Function as system-level primary customer contact in some scenarios.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

• BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent.

• BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent.
• Experience in parametric 3D modeling and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
• Creo/NX and/or Catia
• Strong technical writing, communication, team, and organizational skills.
• US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to support technicians and shop builds.
• Operate simple hand tools, etc.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

• 8am-4:30pm core (minimum) work hours.
• Project surge support and additional effort as needed to achieve deadlines.
• Some travel may be required for customer and supplier meetings, off-site training, off-site testing, and attendance at industry conferences.
