Job summary

Suncast Corporation in Illinois is seeking a Design Engineer II to transform product concepts into manufacturable designs that meet quality, cost, and profitability targets. You will use CAD extensively, focusing on injection- and blow-molded consumer products, creating durable assemblies with minimal fasteners.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, manufacturing knowledge, and delivering high-quality consumer products from concept through production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
• Associate’s degree in CAD or Engineering Technology is acceptable with 1–3 years of design experience.
• Experience with plastic part design is a plus.
• Strong analytical and communication skills required.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD and SolidWorks preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop an overall assembled product design using solid modeling and drawings from the senior designer.
• Develop components within the assembly from the approved design.
• Perform finite element analysis to verify performance criteria.
• Review tooling designs with tool engineering for injection molding and extrusion; suggest design modifications.
• Collaborate with industrial and automation engineering to ensure proper processes and equipment.
