Job summary

Goken, founded in 2004 and headquartered in Dublin, Ohio, seeks an engineer to support design and development activities and lead the transition from support to small-scale projects by managing part and process development.

You will lead engineering for large-scale programs, perform 3D modeling, create 2D drawings and BOMs, analyze issues, and coordinate with offshore teams and suppliers; travel to client sites is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 2–5 years of relevant industry experience (or an equivalent combination).
  • Experience with DFMEA, GD&T, and DFM.
  • Proficiency with Catia V5/V6 for 3D modeling and 2D drawings.

Summary:

This role will support design and development activities and lead the transition from support activities to small-scale projects by managing part and process development.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support the engineering activities for large scale product development programs by investigating feasibility, performing design using 3D modeling software, conducting layout review and 2D drawing creation.
  • Analyze and resolve complex problems independently or with minimal guidance.
  • Create part specification requirements and BOM.
  • Negotiate with surrounding component business units and suppliers.
  • Perform cost analysis, strength calculations, and material selection.
  • Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve product and/or processes.
  • Search for new ways to increase overall efficiency, utilize up-to-date technology, and reduce design and parts costs.
  • Travel to client sites required.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 2-5 years of relevant industry experience, or a Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of relevant industry experience, or an Associate’s degree and 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge and working experience with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and DFM (Design for Manufacturing)
  • Experience using both Catia V5/V6 to create 3D models, 2D drawings, and 3DA is required.
  • Experience in the automotive domain modelling/routing / static & dynamic clearance of hoses, pipes, brackets/ stays, HV cables, and LV harness systems is preferred.
  • Leading the development of assigned parts, including coordination with offshore teams and customer counterparts to manage schedules, deliverables, and technical follow-up.
  • The ability to work effectively in a cross-functional group setting, including essential technical guidance to support Senior Management
  • Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and tooling
  • DWG packaging creation and issuing/releasing experience
  • Exposure to CAE preferred.
  • Prior experience working with Japanese OEM's, including familiarity with engineering processes, tools, design standards, drawing release, and CAD systems, is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
