Job summary

AAF International is seeking a Design Engineer II to design, develop and manufacture HVAC products from inception through production. The engineer will create and revise 3D drawings using AutoCAD and Inventor, generate submittals, and prepare BOMs and shop packages.

The role requires 3-5 years of sheet metal design experience, familiarity with ECN processes, and knowledge of ERP/MRP systems. Associates degree in mechanical engineering is required, with Vault familiarity as a plus.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years sheet metal product design experience in a team-based environment.
• 1-3 years’ experience using Inventor 3D modeling software.
• 3-5 years’ experience in sheet metal design.
• Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Familiarity with ECN processes and Vault is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review job packages and specifications to ensure product is in compliance with customer requirements.
• Participate in new product development projects.
• Generate product and part drawings using AutoCAD & Inventor 3D modeling software or equivalent programs.
• Revise existing drawings based on customer requirements.
• Prepare manufacturing Bills of Materials utilizing ERP/MRP systems.
• Prepare manufacturing instruction sheets, IOMs and shop packages.
• Prepare purchase requisitions as required.
• Maintain document control under the Quality Assurance Program.
• Analyze and resolve questions and problems in the shop.
• Use established standards to select parts and materials.
• Contact the customer to verify product specifications.
• Generate complex weldments and weld maps per AWS requirements.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Design Engineer II is responsible for the design, development and manufacture of new and existing products from inception, through design and into production. The design engineer utilizes computer aided 3D modeling software to create new drawings, revise existing drawings, generate product submittals and shop drawings as required for various sheet metal and air filtration products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review job packages and specifications to insure product is in compliance with customer requirements.
• Participate in new product development projects.
• Generate product and part drawings using Autodesk AutoCAD & Inventor 3D modeling software or equivalent programs.
• Revise, as required, existing drawings based on customer requirements.
• Prepares manufacturing Bill of Materials utilizing ERP software.
• Prepares manufacturing instructions sheets, IOM’s and shop packages.
• Prepares purchase requisitions as required.
• Maintains document control as required under the Quality Assurance Program.
• Analyze and resolve questions and problems in the shop.
• Use established standards to select the correct parts and materials for each product.
• Contact the customer if information is needed to verify product specifications.
• Generate complex weldments and weld maps, sizing welds according to AWS requirements

Requirements

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

• A background in HVAC is preferred, with working knowledge of basic airflow and fan principles.
• Good working knowledge of general drafting standards.
• 1-3 years’ experience using Inventor 3D modeling software.
• 3-5 years’ experience in sheet metal design.
• An understanding of basic ECN processes. Familiarity with Autodesk Vault is a plus

Proficient in ERP/MRP systems such as ERP/LX, MAPICS, BPICS, MACPAC or other similar platform.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

3-5 years sheet metal product design experience in a team-based environment. Individuals with relevant work experience will also be considered

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS

License or certificates in any of the above mentioned trade skills are beneficial
