Job summary

Jtec Industries, Inc. in Illinois is seeking a Design Engineer II to design and develop engineered solutions for customers' material movement requirements.

You will analyze requirements and craft cost-effective designs using Creo, while collaborating with Sales to render concepts and ensure compliance with specs. Responsibilities include producing 3D models, providing production support, and guiding design staff.

  • Experience using PTC Creo Parametric / ProEngineer.

Summary/Objective

The Design Engineer II designs and develops engineered solutions for our customers' material movement requirements.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Analyzes customers' requirements and develops cost effective design solutions.
  • Collaborates with the sales team to develop conceptual design prints and renderings.
  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications.
  • Utilizes Creo software to produce 3D models and prints.
  • Utilizes advanced analytical tools to develop and validate designs.
  • Processes and publishes shop prints, design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
  • Provides production support to the operations department.
  • Creates screenshots or renderings as requested by Sales, Marketing, Engineering or Operations for initial customer approval and feedback.
  • Hands-on operations & sales support including, but not limited to: tool design, manufacturing/fabrication sequencing, shop floor product review and manufacturing concerns & investigations.
  • Designs for manufacturability while understanding our machine and material capabilities and utilizes that knowledge to design for cost effective manufacturing processes.
  • Provides guidance and technical assistance to design staff.
  • Supplier Collaboration: ability to search for suppliers, discuss design projects and understand pricing structures of new product development.
  • Reinforces Jtec Core Values within the department
  • Completes other jobs or duties as directed by the Engineering Supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience
    • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field or
    • Associate's degree in engineering or related field with 5+yrs experience
    • 3D Design Experience
  • Technology
    • PTC Creo Parametric / ProEngineer
    • Windows PC proficiency
    • Microsoft office suite experience
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to move about the assigned area
  • Job involves working from a seated position for long periods (8-10 hrs)
  • Must be able to position self to inspect products and equipment at ground level
  • Must be able to move products or equipment weighing up to 10 lbs
  • Must occasionally be able to work in safety sensitive role, fit for duty and free of any adverse effects of drugs or alcohol, including prescribed or over the counter drugs or other substances which may alter job performance during working times (e.g., drowsiness, impaired reflexes or reaction time, lack of concentration, etc.).
