Sherwood Design Engineers in New York, NY seeks a focused Design Engineer I to support land development design. You will collaborate across disciplines to deliver sustainable infrastructure projects and interpret topographic data for accurate plans.

The role emphasizes field assessments, regulatory understanding, and CAD-based drafting. A Civil/Environmental engineering background and internship exposure help you contribute to award‑winning projects in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Typically industry internship experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – Civil and/or Environmental.
• Ability to work with multiple site base files in different coordinate frames and units.

Responsibilities

• Physical site assessment and field visits.
• Research, understand, and summarize regulatory requirements for development projects.
• Data collection and processing for civil engineering analyses.
• Numerical computations in civil engineering, hydrology and hydraulics, stormwater management.
• Prepare technical reports, project specs, and cost estimates.
• Create and interpret blueprints and CAD drawings.
• Use CAD tools in design work.
• Oversee construction to ensure adherence to design specifications.
• Ensure compliance with local zoning and national regulations.
