Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution is required.
• EIT certification or on track to obtain it.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
• Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles including wire sizing and current calculations.
• Familiarity with building codes and industry best practices.

• BESS Design Support: Create preliminary BESS layouts and single line diagrams using templates; review bid drawings; communicate unique specifications.
• CAD Drafting: Create and modify electrical drawings in AutoCAD.
• Code and Regulatory Research: Stay current on NEC and NFPA 855.
• Project Collaboration: Participate in design reviews and work with other engineering disciplines.
• Documentation and Reporting: Prepare technical reports and maintain design history.

Job Description Summary:

The Design Engineer I, BESS is responsible for creating preliminary BESS designs and for reviewing BESS designs created by others.

This role can be hybrid, with regular in-office presence in San Diego, CA, Edison, NJ, Bend, OR or fully remote. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Job Description:

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

• BESS Design Support
  • Create preliminary BESS layouts and single line diagrams using templates
  • Perform review of bid drawings to internal standards and document differences
  • Review RFPs and evaluate against our standard designs. Documents and communicate unique specifications to necessary parties.
  • Works with Business Development and Estimating to ensure an appropriate response is made to an RFP
  • Performs basic electrical engineering calculations to support design
• CAD Drafting
  • Create and modify electrical engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
• Code and Regulatory Research
  • Research and stay current on all applicable electrical codes/standards, including NEC and NFPA 855
• Project Collaboration
  • Participate in design reviews and collaborate effectively with other engineering disciplines and project teams.
• Documentation and Reporting
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports, calculations, and specifications.
  • Maintenance of accurate project documentation, including design revision/iteration history.

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• EIT (Engineer in Training) certification or on track to obtain it.
• Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook
• Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles, including wire sizing, current calculations
• Basic knowledge of applicable building codes, engineering principles, and industry best practices
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
