Job summary

RiseMe in Houston, TX seeks an entry-level Design Engineer I to create and modify designs, drawings, and models under supervision, supporting project goals and company standards.

You will work with engineers, designers, and manufacturing teams to verify designs, prepare manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and documentation, and build technical capability while following established procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• No minimum years of engineering experience is required.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical design principles, drawings, and design documentation.
• Experience with CAD software is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify designs, drawings, models, and supporting documentation for defined project requirements under appropriate supervision.
• Assist with order-of-magnitude and detailed analyses used to evaluate and verify designs.
• Review client specifications, drawings, and project requirements with guidance from senior personnel.
• Assist in identifying design problems, evaluating alternatives, and implementing approved solutions.
• Support prototype assembly, validation testing, and resolution of field or manufacturing issues.
• Prepare accurate manufacturing drawings, bills of materials, calculations, reports, and design documentation.
• Check drawings and documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with established requirements.
• Coordinate assigned work with Designers, Manufacturing, Quality, and Project Engineering.
• Maintain awareness of assigned scope, schedule, budget, quality, and applicable HSE requirements.
• Participate in project meetings and communicate progress, risks, and technical questions to the responsible engineer.
• Share knowledge and best practices across the Company.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary

The Design Engineer I performs entry-level engineering design and analysis assignments under the guidance of more experienced engineers. This position works with Design Engineers, Project Engineers, Designers, Manufacturing personnel, Project Managers, and other stakeholders to create, verify, document, and maintain designs that support Company projects. The role is expected to build technical capability, apply Company procedures, and communicate progress and technical issues to the project team.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• No minimum years of engineering experience are required.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical design principles, engineering drawings, and design documentation.
• Experience with CAD software for creating models, detail drawings, or schematics is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar software.
• Ability to understand technical layouts and follow established engineering procedures.
• Ability to work under direction while progressively developing independent work capability.
• Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Desired Knowledge and Skills

• Familiarity with subsea or oilfield equipment and mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems.
• Demonstrated ability to learn technical concepts, follow established procedures, and work effectively as part of a team.

Work Environment

• Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, listen, and speak.
• Frequent need for manual dexterity - using hands, fingers, and arms to push, pull, reach, grab, hold, and lift.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Regularly required to sit and stand for long periods of time.
• Frequent use of a PC is required.
• Wear steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed in safety zone areas.
