Job summary

Hussey Seating Company is seeking a hands-on Mechanical/Civil-Structural Engineer to design customer-specific seating equipment for event venues. The role involves leading or supporting multiple projects through full lifecycles, from sale to installation, with travel to job sites for scans and measurements.

You’ll use AutoCAD and 3D design tools, perform structural analyses, prototype and test designs, and produce manufacturing drawings and assembly instructions.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering or related field required.
• Experience with structural steel, plywood, sheet steel forming and welding preferred.
• Experience with rapid prototyping and testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop customer specific design solutions for seating product lines.
• Revise code compliant submittal drawings after customer approval.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects and general contractors for detail design.
• Travel to job sites for 3D building scans and measurements.
• Utilize 3D design software to fit seating into space.
• Perform structural analysis with Mathcad and other tools.
• Prototype, test and validate new designs.
• Produce part drawings and installation instructions.
• Provide guidance during manufacturing and installation.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and waste reduction.
