Job summary

Rolls-Royce plc is seeking a Design Engineer for Cold End components. The role focuses on designing blades, vanes and related mechanisms, ensuring integration of customer and project demands with robust engineering practices.

The engineer will generate and review design and build definitions, work across Projects, Manufacturing and Service to address variances, and contribute to cost reduction and process improvements while maintaining safety and certification standards.

Qualifications

  • Degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace or equivalent.
  • Good English written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of drawing creation and interpretation, UG (NX) and PLM Teamcenter.

Responsibilities

  • Design of Cold End components incl. blades, vanes, mechanisms and fan components.
  • Interface with Projects, Specialists, Manufacturing and Operations to ensure quality and on-time delivery.
  • Generate and check Design Definitions, Component Definitions and Build Instruction Drawings for technical reviews.
  • Support Product Change and Cost Reduction processes with technical analyses and business cases.
  • Collaborate with service engineering and producibility teams, evaluating adjustments with suppliers.

Job Description Design Engineer Cold End Components (m/f/d)

Key Responsibilities Design of Cold End components incl. blades, vanes, various mechanisms as well as fan components. Those will require the integration of the multiple requirements from customers and specialist groups, thriving for quality, integrity and timely delivery of all technical solutions. This also requires effective interfacing with Projects, Specialists, Manufacturing and Operations. Responsible for creation of design solutions to address specified requirements by using Robust Design and System Engineering techniques and delivering both safe and certifiable products as well as reliability for service operation. Generate and check Design Definitions, Component Definitions and Build Instruction Drawings and conducting presentations for technical reviews and audits. Conduct technical and business case studies in support of the Product Change and Cost Reduction Process. Support Service Engineering (special investigations, evaluation of Technical Variances, Repair Schemes, Engine Manual changes, and other technical questions arising from service) and Producibility by evaluating Concessions and Definition Alteration Requests, and working closely with manufacturers and suppliers. Support research projects, both locally and with research facilities and universities globally. Working closely with and instructing modellers and external Design Agencies. Within this improvement of working processes and methods for a simplified and more efficient work environment.

Qualifications / Experience

Degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace or equivalent. Experience of problem understanding, innovative problem solving and definition of effective solutions with the ability to deal with an ambiguous and high paced environment. Profound knowledge of aero engine design processes and specification system with core engine and relevant production knowledge being appreciated. Good knowledge of drawing creation and interpretation, specifically robust UG (NX) and PLM Teamcenter knowledge required. Good English written and spoken.
