Job summary

Institutional Casework, Inc. in Union City, TN, is seeking a Design Engineer for our Metal Division. You will analyze customer drawings, prepare BOMs for manufacturing, and collaborate with engineering and procurement to schedule projects.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering, 3D modeling experience (SolidWorks preferred), sheet metal fabrication knowledge, and MRPP understanding. Strong communication and teamwork are essential as you manage projects from design to assembly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering.
• 3D modeling experience; SolidWorks preferred.
• Sheet metal experience (punching, laser, forming, welding).
• MRP experience (item master, bill of materials).
• Experience with sheet metal laboratory casework is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills (phone, written, verbal).
• Strong analytical, organizational, inter-personal, and detail-oriented skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret customer drawings to prepare BOMs for project release to manufacturing.
• Read customer order entry system (WinCAT) to prepare BOMs for project release to manufacturing.
• Work with engineering manager or coordinator to schedule projects.
• Create and modify SW models to create products for drawings or WinCAT.
• Engage with manufacturing to design error-free parts and understand parts flow.
• Coordinate with engineers overseas, including scheduling and reviewing their work.
• Manage projects from design, through manufacturing, to assembly.

Reports to: Director of Engineering - UC

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Read customers order entry system, WinCAT, to prepare BOM's for project release to manufacturing
• Work with engineering manager or coordinator to schedule projects
• Create and modify SW models to create products for drawings or WinCAT
• Engage with manufacturing to design error free parts and understand how parts flow through the plant
• Ability to work with engineers oversees, including scheduling, prioritizing, and per reviewing their work
• Ability to manage your own projects from design, manufacturer, to assembly

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering
• 3D modeling experience, Solidworks preferred
• Sheet metal experience, punching, laser, forming, welding, etc.
• MRP experience, item master, bill of material, etc.
• Experience with sheet metal laboratory casework a plus
