Vactor Mfg. Inc. in Streator, IL, is seeking an engineering designer to develop layouts, perform design analyses, and coordinate cross-functional project plans for product improvements.

The role requires 1–3 years of engineering design experience, CAD proficiency (Pro-E preferred), and strong communication skills. Travel for field or trade shows may be involved, with a broad benefits package offered.

Qualifications

• BSME or BSAE degree required.
• 1–3 years engineering design experience.
• Mobile equipment experience is preferred.
• CAD experience, Pro-E preferred.
• Electrical controls/multiplex and hydraulics experience a plus.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and team orientation.

Responsabilités

• Coordinate layout/design development for products and production use.
• Analyze designs using engineering tools to meet strength, noise, function, ergonomics, safety and quality.
• Communicate with suppliers to develop product specifications.
• Develop project plans with input from engineering, marketing and production.
• Collaborate with production, manufacturing engineering, lab, marketing, service and engineering during project implementation.
• Prepare and review engineering change packages, BOM investigations and related documentation.
• Use CAD and office software to company standards for typical duties.
• Participate in cost reduction activities as needed.
• Evaluate products/modifications for performance and user satisfaction; may involve field/trade shows travel.
• Assist drafters and designers with required engineering expertise.
• Develop project plans with cross-functional input.

Job Responsibilities

• Coordinate the development of layouts and design and/or modification in existing products, and information required for production use.
• Use engineering tools to analyze designs to meet requirements for strength, noise, functionality, ergonomics, safety and quality.
• Communicate and coordinate with suppliers where engineering input is required to develop specifications for products and/or components.
• Develop project plans with input from engineering, marketing and production.
• Work with production, manufacturing engineering, lab supervision, marketing, service, and engineering personnel during the implementation of a project.
• Prepare and review complete engineering change packages, including BOM investigations per departmental procedures for completeness and accuracy.
• Use departmental CAD system and office software, to company standards and procedures, at or above a level needed to perform typical duties.
• Participate in the cost reduction process as needed.
• Evaluate product or product modification to determine the degree of success of the product in terms of performance and user satisfaction. May include travel to the field and/or trade shows.
• Assist drafters and designers with required engineering expertise to complete design activities.
• Develop project plans with input from engineering, marketing and production.

Experience And Skills Required

• Minimum of 1-3 years experience in engineering design

Salary Range

Salary Range - Engineer I = $70-85k; Engineer II = $85-100k
