Job summary

Wastequip in Salisbury, NC seeks a Design Engineer to design waste containers and related products per company standards and customer needs. You will manage BOMs, release drawings, and coordinate manufacturing launches for new or revised products.

The role requires AutoCAD/Inventor experience, 2+ years in manufacturing, and a safety‑minded, team‑oriented approach. Travel to sites for training and evaluation is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or closely related Engineering (ABET-accredited) required.
• Design experience in AutoCAD/Inventor.
• Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a manufacturing operation, preferably metal fabrication.
• Finite Element Analysis experience a plus.
• Knowledge of Machining, Welding, Fabrication and/or Waste Industry experience a plus.
• Must possess safety mindset in all aspects of the job.
• Strong technical, problem solving, and analytic skills with ability to think strategically.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and deliver results.
• Teamwork oriented.

Responsibilities

• Produce Sales drawings for customer approval.
• Produce production drawings and specifications.
• Create complete Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Release products IAW company processes.
• Maintain product data & documentation within Vault & ERP.
• Design with manufacturability and cost considerations.
• Lead projects to align product data across Business Units.
• Conduct research and create design concepts/proposals.
• Use AutoCad (2D) & Inventor (3D) for designs as needed.
• Travel to Wastequip facilities for evaluation and training.

Wastequip has a great opportunity for a Design Engineer. The design engineer will design waste containers and associated products in accordance with company standards and customer requirements. Responsible for BOM development and drawing releases of new and revised products. Coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products.

This position is to sit at our Salisbury, NC location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Produce Sales drawings for customer approval
• Produce production drawings and specifications
• Create complete Bills of Material (BOMs)
• Release products IAW company processes
• Maintain product data & documentation within Vault & ERP,
• Design considering manufacturability and cost effectiveness.
• Lead projects to align product data from multiple Business Units.
• Conduct research and create design concepts/proposals for projects.
• As required, use AutoCad (2D) & Inventor (3D) for designs.
• Travel to Wastequip production & office facilities to evaluate product and receive training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or closely related Engineering discipline (ABET-accredited) required.
• Design experience in AutoCAD/Inventor
• Minimum of (2) years of work experience in a manufacturing operation, preferably one involving metal fabrication
• Experienced in using Finite Element Analysis is a plus
• Knowledge of Machining, Welding, Fabrication and/or Waste Industry experience a plus
• Must possess an attitude of safety in all aspects of the job
• Must possess technical, problem solving, and analytic skills with ability to think strategically
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to achieve successful results within deadlines
