Job summary

Trelleborg Group in the United States (Massachusetts) is seeking an experienced Design Engineer to drive New Product Introduction and sealing solutions from concept through production.

The role requires 4-year engineering degree with 5+ years in design/production, strong CAD (SolidWorks) skills, and excellence in GD&T and drawing standards. You'll collaborate across PM, Commercial, and Development teams and contribute to high-quality manufacturing outcomes.

Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in Engineering or equivalent from an accredited institution is required.
  • Design Engineer: 5+ years (preferred).
  • Production/Manufacturing: 5+ year (preferred).
  • Cad System: SolidWorks (preferred).
  • Strong ability & experience of using 3d modeling software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • High proficiency in drawing standards, GD&T.
  • Excellent attention to detail & high standards of quality.
  • Experience of working within a similar role within a production/manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to meet deadlines and prioritize workloads with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

  • New Product Introduction - Working alongside the Project Management, Commercial and Development teams and responsible for all technical aspects of the New Product Introduction.
  • Feasibility reviews and technical assessments.
  • Costing - Perform cost analysis on new designs as well as currently manufactured product.
  • Data Configuration management, ERP configurations
  • Manufacturing drawings creation
  • Responsible for the formation and writing of Bills of Materials, Routers and Quality Inspection plans to ensure product manufacture is repeatable and consistent with established cost and quality standards
  • Project Planning
  • Sealing Solutions Design – Airframe and engine seals design to customer or internal specifications
  • Producing concepts, designs, and technical proposals
  • Design validations, FEA, prototyping
  • Report writing – technical proposals, test plans, reports
  • Keeping knowledge of new materials and technological documents up to date for maximum quality of design and cost effectiveness
  • Assist in the customer management of all technical issues relating to new business opportunities
  • Operations support and assistance in problem solving
  • Works with manufacturing Engineering on the manufacturability of all new designs
  • Maintains cooperative relationships with other managers, supervisors, and all employees.
  • Respects the confidentially of Company, vendor and customer information.
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to perform in an independent manner with little direct supervision.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments relative to manufacturing, industry trends, competition, applicable legal requirements, etc., as well as new systems and equipment
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager.

Summary

Responsible for various engineering assignments starting from the basic idea and carrying through to the completion of plans. Activities may include developing a new product model or investigating the benefits of a new process. Works with other members of the engineering group and coordinates their specialized contributions to the development of the project.

Tasks & Responsibilities

New Product Introduction - Working alongside the Project Management, Commercial and Development teams and responsible for all technical aspects of the New Product Introduction. This includes:

  • Design of production and development tooling and tooling purchases coordination
  • Feasibility reviews and technical assessments
  • Costing - Perform cost analysis on new designs as well as currently manufactured product.
