Job summary

Design Engineer in the Target Rock Team based in East Farmingdale, NY. The role involves creating 3D models and detailed drawings, performing analyses, selecting materials, and coordinating with manufacturing to ensure manufacturability and inspection readiness.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of 2D/3D CAD experience, knowledge of valve design, and familiarity with ASME codes. A BS in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering is required; MS and PE are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Mechanical or Nuclear emphasis preferred.
  • Two or more years of 2D and 3D CAD experience.
  • Knowledge of valve design and drafting practices; familiarity with industry codes (ASME, etc.).
  • Proficiency with analysis techniques (tolerance/fit, structural, thermal, flow).
  • Familiarity with ASME B&PV and related codes; finite element analysis experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Mathcad, LabVIEW, NX, Teamcenter, and ANSYS.

  • Prepare 3D models and 2D layouts, assemblies, and detail drawings.
  • Conduct clearance/stack‑up studies for fit and function.
  • Perform analyses to support designs and justify decisions.

  • Standardize design methods and analysis techniques.
  • Act as project manager for design/development programs.
  • Interface with manufacturing, welding, and quality control for manufacturability.

Design Engineer We are looking for a Design Engineer to join our Target Rock Team! Location: East Farmingdale, NY Salary/hourly rate: $84,000 to $100,000

Your Challenge
  • Review of specifications for compliance with proposed design.
  • Prepare 3D models, and 2D layouts, assembly, and detail drawings for new or improved product
  • Prepares clearance/stack-up studies to ensure fit and function of product
  • Performs analysis and calculations to support and justify Designs
  • Selects material and hardware for product
  • Preparation and review of design reports.
  • Standardize Design Methods and analysis techniques.
  • Acts as Project Manager (lead) for internally (PID) and externally funded Design/Development programs
  • Interface with Manufacturing, Welding and Quality Control to ensure manufacturability and inspect ability of components designed.
  • Prepares technical proposals as assigned
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor/Manager
What You Bring
  • Minimum of two (2) years of 2D and 3D CAD experience
  • Knowledge of products and industry requirements.
  • Knowledge of Valve Design and Drafting Practices
  • Proficient in all types of analysis techniques (tolerance/fit-up, structural, thermal, flow, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of ASME B&PV Code and/or SDB-63/VDM-71, as well as other applicable industry codes (e.g. Y14.5, B16.5, B16.34, B18.3, B31.1)
  • Working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis
  • Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, Mathcad, LabVIEW, NX, Teamcenter and ANSYS
  • Must possess the mental capacity to comprehend information provided daily and make own decisions.
  • Four (4) year Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Nuclear)
  • Master of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Nuclear) (preferred)
  • Professional Engineering Registration (preferred)
  • Power Plant Systems training (preferred)
