Job summary

Actalent, Inc. in Carmel, IN is seeking a Design Engineer to assist the Lead Design Engineer in creating a 3D printer for aerospace-grade components. You will focus on high-precision motion control, material handling pieces, and robust structural assemblies to enable tight tolerances.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering, 5+ years of relevant experience, and hands-on design for fabricated, machined, or welded parts. Onsite, contract-to-hire with a standard 8 AM–4 PM schedule.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Experience with NX Design (SolidWorks or CATIA acceptable).
  • Design experience for fabricated, machined, or welded parts.
  • Strong GD&T experience.
  • 5+ years of applicable work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Lead Design Engineer in designing 3D printers.
  • Develop and optimize designs for moving mechanical systems with focus on linear and rotary motion precision, thermal stability, and vibration damping.
  • Work on complex, high-precision equipment including motion control systems, material handling components, and structural assemblies.
  • Design parts that are fabricated, machined, or welded.

We are currently designing and building a 3D printing machine with capabilities for tight tolerance manufacturing of specialized parts, aimed at saving significant costs for OEM Aerospace and Defense customers. Our future targets include the Automotive and Medical Device industries. We have a team of 10 employees and have recently purchased a manufacturing space where production is set to begin in June 2025. Work Environment

This is an onsite position in an office environment, expected to work 5 days per week. The typical schedule is from 8 AM to 4 PM with some flexibility on start time.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carmel, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
