Job Title: Engineering ManagerJob Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineering Manager to join our management team. The ideal candidate will lead and mentor a team of Design Engineers, Office Engineers, and Programmers/Machinists, while driving continuous improvement and ensuring the department meets its objectives efficiently and within budget.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a member of the management team to guide the company's direction.
  • Manage and mentor a team of 6, acting as both a leader and support resource.
  • Oversee department operations, ensuring organization, efficiency, and adherence to deadlines.
  • Assume full responsibility for all engineering projects, personnel, and the creation of engineering procedures.
  • Ensure the department achieves objectives and completes projects within budget and time frame.
  • Focus product development on meeting and exceeding customer requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects and tooling initiatives.
  • Ensure all digital data is correctly created, stored, and entered into the ERP system.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards and maintain robust processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support manufacturing from start to finish.
  • Plan and manage current projects while preparing for future pipeline requirements.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and professional growth within the department.
  • Formulate long-term objectives and performance standards for the engineering department.
Essential Skills
  • At least 3 years of experience in a management role.
  • At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
  • Strong management and leadership skills, with the ability to develop talent and build a department.
  • Ability to deliver on projects from start to finish and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading, machining, CNC, programming, and continuous improvement.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial preferred).
  • 5+ years total engineering experience, with 3+ years in a management role.
  • Knowledge of CNC programming and machining operations.
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Understanding of delivery timelines and pipeline planning.
  • Innovative thinking and product roadmap contribution.
  • Strong relationship management, strategy development, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and various CAD products.

Work Environment

This is a fully on-site role, operating from 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. The Engineering Manager is expected to work approximately 50 hours per week, with hours determined by project progress. The work environment features moderate noise levels and requires flexibility and commitment beyond standard working hours.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fairfield, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $72.12 - $76.92/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
