Job summary

MAC Trailer is seeking a Design Engineer to develop complete and complex liquid tank trailer designs and lead engineering reviews of customer specifications and drawings. You will represent ASME Section VIII compliance and coordinate with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment.

You will structure Bills of Materials for assemblies, enter them into the ERP system, and collaborate with Sales, Purchasing, Production and Materials to support schedules.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering; 5+ years manufacturing experience.
  • Solid understanding of ASME Section VIII and BPVC codes.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks (2D/3D) and FEA is preferred.
  • ERP system knowledge required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering review of customer specifications and drawings.
  • Develop designs for complete and complex liquid tank trailers.
  • Represent ASME Section VIII compliance and audits.
  • Structure Bills of Material for Assemblies and enter them into the ERP
  • Cooperate with Sales, Purchasing, Production, and Materials to support schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with approved design standards for safety and constructability.
  • Review calculations, design models, drawings and documents for quality and accuracy.
  • Provide drawings and sketches for own designs and for Designers.
  • Research code issues and consult with code officials as needed.
  • Assure drawings and designs conform to company standards; overtime as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Leads engineering review of customer specifications and final drawings.
  • Develops designs for complete and complex liquid tank trailers and components.
  • Represent ASME Section VIII compliance and certification audits.
  • Structures the Bills of Material for Assemblies and enters them into the ERP
  • Cooperates and Interacts with Sales, Purchasing, Production, and Materials team to support production schedules.
  • Ensures compliance with approved design standards to provide quality design, safety, constructability, reliable operation, construction economy, and operating
  • Reviews and checks calculations, design models, drawings and design documents for quality, accuracy, neatness, functionality, and satisfactory completion.
  • Provide drawing for own designs and produce sketches to incorporate in drawings by Designers and Drafters
  • Research code issues and ask general questions of code officials.
  • Assure that drawings and designs are in accordance with company production and design standards.
  • Ability to work overtime and/or weekends to meet tight deadlines.
Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Familiar with ASME Section VIII Boiler and Pressure Vessel code requirements.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • ASME BPVC experience preferred.
  • Intermediate to Advanced skills using SolidWorks (2D and 3D).
  • FEA and/or other Stress Analysis experience.
  • Knowledge of trailer industry and regulatory standards and codes a plus.
  • Firm understanding of ERP systems required.
