Janie and Jack LLC in San Francisco is seeking a Design Director, Textiles and Concepts to drive seasonal trend development, color palette selection, and print/graphic direction across multiple product assortments. You will forecast fabric/color patterns for the children’s market and lead development from concept to production.

You will partner with the Head of Design and cross‑functional teams to balance creative vision with business objectives, shop the market for inspiration, and ensure

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree in a related field with 10+ years in apparel design.
• At least 3+ years of people management in design teams.
• Experience in specialty retail with product lifecycle knowledge.
• Strong communication and leadership to drive concept through execution.
• Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Experience with Miro, Kaledo, and PLM is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set and lead creative vision by identifying trends across fashion, art, and culture.
• Partner with Merchandising to balance creativity with commercial opportunities.
• Develop seasonal color directions and cohesive palettes across seasons.
• Establish print, pattern, and graphic direction for all departments.
• Ensure product vision aligns with brand aesthetic and assortment strategy.
• Lead and mentor the textile team with clear direction and feedback.
• Balance strategic leadership with hands‑on design and development work.
• Collaborate with Product Development and overseas vendors to solve production challenges.
• Bring advanced fabrication expertise to direct development and quality control.
• Travel domestically and internationally ~2x per year for trend research.
